DIGITAL CINEMA PRESENTATION

Horrified at the rise of the Nazis, director Fritz Lang created what may be the only anti-Fascist noir in history, a devastating supernatural crime film that suggests that evil is a spiritual force that can take over entire societies. Using actual guns and explosives on the set, both to create realistic sound effects and to induce his cast to a state of near panic, and taking actual quotes from the Nazis to put in the mouths of his antagonists, Lang created a film of almost perverse anxiety, a fever pitch of sound and visual design that will leave viewers both entertained, amazed, and alarmed at its parallels to modern day society.
