Loosely based on the Edgar Allen Poe story, Murders in the Rue Morgue features a twisted mad scientist, Bela Lugosi, who seeks the perfect virgins in whom he can inject insane ape blood... so that he can create a mate for his talking ape Erik! This wonderfully bizarre and gruesome story was a flop in its day but is now widely considered one of Universal's best.
