DIGITAL CINEMA PRESENTATION

In his push to establish Universal as a first-rank studio, Carl Laemmle, Jr spent over 2 million dollars to produced this spectacular musical revue built around the popular band leader Paul Whiteman. Considered by many to be one of the greatest of the early musical films, it more than lives up to it's publicity as A NEW ERA in sound and color entertainment! Every aspect of the movie was innovative, from the pre-recording of the musical performances, the two color Technicolor, Russell Markert's high-precision choreography, an animated color cartoon prologue to a miniaturized orchestra emerging from a giant suitcase and bewitched shoes dancing without benefit of feet, everything smacked of newness.

Universal spent a half million dollars restoring this film in 2016 and it really must be seen on the big screen in all it's Technicolor glory to be appreciated for the work of art that it is!
