After the rousing success of our Deanna Durbin series in 2012, we've been eager to bring back the girl who saved Universal Pictures from sure bankruptcy, and captured America's heart in the process. So this holiday season, we're having a Sunday double feature, two of Durbin's best and most charming films, for one price, both on 35mm!
The "sugar" is 1943's His Butler's Sister, a lovely screwball comedy in which the golden-voiced Durbin comes to New York City looking to become an opera star. There she meets her half-brother (Pat O'Brien) who is trying to hide the fact that he's not wealthy, but a butler... to a famous opera star!
